Daiwa BG 5000 Spinning Reel 5.7:1 Gear Ratio

The Daiwa BG 5000 is a mid-size spinning reel built around an aluminum body with an air rotor design. It features 6 ball bearings and 1 roller bearing for smooth operation, paired with a 5.7:1 gear ratio that delivers 47.4 inches of line per turn. Maximum drag is rated at 22.6 pounds. The reel handles a range of line capacities depending on type—monofilament options include 14-pound test (470 yards), 17-pound test (380 yards), and 20-pound test (280 yards), while braided options reach 50-pound test (360 yards) and 65-pound test (310 yards). An Automatic Tournament Drag system manages pressure during the fight, while Digigear technology supports consistent gear performance across the reel’s rotation.
